AANI Congratulates Nigeria as Professor Bande Becomes The 74th President Of UN General Assembly

The Alumni Association of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, (Kuru)AANI, has congratulated the government and people of Nigeria on the election of Nigerian Ambassador to the Unuted Nations, Professor Tijani Mohammad Bande, as the President of the 74th United Nations General Assembly (UN-GA) in New York recently.

Professor Bande, the Nigerian Ambassador to the United Nations, was a former Director General and alumni of the Institute.

In a press statement issued and made available to journalists by the Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ogbonna Onyiesi in Abuja yesterday said ” AANI wishes to congratulates the government and the good people of Nigeria on the recent election of Nigerian Ambassador to United Nations, Professor Tijani Mohammed Bande as the 74th President of the United Nations General Assembly. The appointment of Professor Bande at this material time, is an indication of the strategic role being played by Nigeria on the global stage. It also goes to show the efforts of the Buhari led-government in making the world a better place, where peace, harmony and good governance shall reign. As a leading African nation, we should be proud of the contributions and achievements of Nigeria to global progress and harmony. This appointment has gone to demonstrates the confidence and support that Nigeria enjoy among the comity of nations. We must therefore, continue to provide the needed direction and leadership for the African continent and the black people all over the world”.

In the statement, Onyeisi
also said, “We want to use this opportunity to congratulates Prof.Bande who directed the affairs of, NIPSS, our Alma Mater for so many years before he was appointed Nigeria’ s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. AANI is proud of Prof Bande and will stand by him in the journey of making the world a better society”.

The spokesperson stated that AANI as a foremost Think Tank in Nigeria will always collaborate with the business and political leaders as well as all stakeholders to promote peace and understanding for national unity and progress.

He further said that the currents National Executive of AANI under the leadership of retired Inspector General of Police, MD Abubakar, CFR, mni, is using this opportunity of the Nigeria new democracy date, June 12 to reiterate its commitments to sustainable democracy, good governance; and will continue to recommend to the Government of Nigeria, strategic policies and programmes to solve the security and other developmental challenges facing our country today.

“AANI is calling on Nigerians irrespective of of religious or political affiliation to be patriotic, act as change agents and support government at all levels towards building a better and prosperous Nigeria”the statement concluded
