ATBIF 2024: Building Africa’s road to economic unity and global influence

Africa’s journey toward economic unity and integration takes a significant step forward as the Africa Talks Business and Investment Forum (ATBIF) opens in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from November 6 to 8, 2024. Part of the Africa Celebrates 2024 initiative, ATBIF will be held at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and African Union headquarters. This year’s theme, Re-imagining the African Dream of Integration with AfCFTA as an Enabler, reflects ATBIF’s commitment to harnessing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to bring African nations closer through trade, collaboration, and economic resilience.

At ATBIF, key figures from government, industry, and international investment will gather to explore strategic partnerships and initiatives designed to promote sustainable growth. The forum’s agenda includes critical discussions around agriculture, transport infrastructure, renewable energy, and technology—sectors that are vital to Africa’s future self-sufficiency. The projects discussed, from railways and highways to renewable energy developments, are expected to enhance regional trade and economic independence while bolstering Africa’s standing on the global stage.

ATBIF’s importance is further emphasized by the attendance of trade and industry ministers from five African nations, highlighting the event’s essential role in driving policies that support intra-African trade and cross-border collaboration. These ministers’ involvement underlines a shared commitment to fostering unity and shared prosperity through resilient economic frameworks.

Africa Celebrates 2024, organized by Legendary Gold Limited with Mayalz Events as the Ethiopian partner, brings a strong coalition of support. In addition to UNECA and the African Union as hosts, Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, alongside the embassies of Nigeria, Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Morocco, and the U.S. to the African Union, have endorsed the forum. The Pan African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with Ethiopian Airlines, the official carrier offering special fares for attendees, further strengthens the forum’s reach.

Through AfCFTA, ATBIF 2024 aims to build pathways toward a stronger, united Africa. By encouraging cross-border trade and investment, the forum not only supports Africa’s self-reliance but also promotes infrastructure development that fuels economic integration. As leaders come together to tackle the continent’s shared challenges, ATBIF 2024 is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing Africa’s economic ambitions, bringing the continent closer to a future defined by unity, resilience, and a competitive presence on the world stage.
