Delta police nab cultist buying AK-47 worth N1.3 million

Officers of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a suspected cultist, identified as Amadasun Victor, a member of the Vikings confraternity, at a hotel.

In a statement on his official X handle on Tuesday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said the suspect was arrested while attempting to purchase an AK-47 rifle at the cost of N1.3 million.

According to the command’s spokesperson, the suspect who claimed he also deals in car washing and internet fraud confessed that he was buying the weapon to fulfil one of the requirements to become a leader of the confraternity group he lobbied for.

“He said he belongs to Vikings confraternity and was vying for number 1 position and the condition to get the position is to own an AK-47. He was arrested while negotiating to buy one AK-47 for N1,300,000, ” Mr Edafe wrote.

According to the video attached to the post, the suspect who said he had made N8 million from internet fraud, disclosed that he joined cultism six years ago and was using proceeds of internet fraud to buy the weapon.

The police spokesperson warned against keeping bad friends which could lead to joining cultism, armed robbery and internet fraud, amongst other criminal activities.

Mr Edafe said, “It starts with bad friends, then migrate to internet fraud, cultism, acquiring of arms, and finally when yahoo stop paying, they migrate to kidnapping and armed robbery.’’
