I Am Still The Vice President – Osinbajo

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo

Yemi Osinbajo has rubbished reports claiming he has resigned from his position as Nigeria’s Vice President.

There have been rumours that Osinbajo had parted ways with President Muhammadu Buhari after the nation’s number two citizen missed out on the meeting his boss, Buhari, had with Security Chiefs on Tuesday.

It was said that Osinbajo was angry for allegedly being ignored.

Reacting, the vice-president, who said the reports were fake, urged Nigerians to disregard the rumour.

He also said the news was misleading especially in this season when Nigerians will be make a choice about who will govern them for the next four years.

Speaking via his Twitter handle on Thursday, Osinbajo said he remained committed to serving the Nigerian people under the leadership of President Buhari.

He wrote: “Misleading/FAKE news is on the rise especially in this season when Nigerians will make a choice about who will govern them for the next four years.

“I have not resigned! I remain committed to the service of the Nigerian people under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Explaining why he did not attend the meeting, Osinbajo said he was too busy in his office while the meeting was underway.

He added that the same security chiefs that met with the President held a meeting with him on the same day.

Zebra News reports that Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, also described the news as “Fake News”, saying that Osinbajo “remains committed to the service of the Nigerian people under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.”
