13 Killed in Kogi Auto Crash as FRSC Urges Caution on the Roads

A tragic road accident on the Lokoja-Obajana road in Kogi State has claimed the lives of thirteen people. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the accident, which occurred on April 1st, 2024.

According to the FRSC Kogi Sector Commander, Mr. Bello, a commercial passenger bus collided with a cement truck that lost control. The impact of the collision resulted in a fire, which unfortunately engulfed the bus and a motorbike traveling nearby .

“The fire outbreak unfortunately claimed the lives of all thirteen passengers on the bus and the motorbike rider,” said Mr. Bello. “Our officers were able to rescue two other people involved in the accident without injuries.”

The FRSC has identified the victims as six male adults, three male children, three female adults, and one female child. Their remains have been deposited at the Specialist Hospital in Lokoja, Kogi State, due to the severity of the fire.

In the wake of this tragedy, the FRSC has urged motorists to prioritize safe driving practices and ensure their vehicles are properly maintained.

“This accident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety,” said Mr. Bello. “We urge all motorists to exercise caution and vigilance while driving. Regular vehicle maintenance and adherence to traffic regulations are crucial in preventing such avoidable accidents.”
