15 medical staff test positive for COVID-19 in Egypt

The outbreak of COVID-19 has hitted another sensitive portion in Africa as 15 medical officers test positive to COVID-19 in Egypt. This was disclosed by Hatem Abdulkassem, the director of Cairo’s National Cancer Institute. The director explained that 3 Doctors and 12 nurses were infected by the virus and further claimed that the 15 had been isolated. He added that facilities would be sterilized for 3 days and patients that have had contact with the infected officers would be tested.

Hatem Acknowledged that it would be tough to trace where the first infection emerged as majority of the medical personnel work in several other places.

In this regard, Egypt now have 985 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 66 deaths. Sequel to this, Authorities in the country have however threatened to penalize and imprison anyone breaching confinement orders.
