22-year-old Neighbour Rapes 13-year-old Girl, Records Video To Extort Money From Her Parents

A 13-year old girl has been afflicted with discomforts and public shame after a male neighbour lured her in sex, recorded it on his mobile phone and turned it as means of extortion against her.
The awful incident finds its habitat at Alaba (Popularly known as Alabarago) area, Ojo Local Government of Lagos. .

It was reported that after several refusal from the girl to continue paying the 22-year old suspect, who has been identified as Augustine Ebuka Achilonu, He reportedly posted the recorded sex video to her school friends and also shared on social media while tagging the girl’s mother to see it.

The incident had happened when the victim’s parents went out, and then the suspect, Ebuka, sneaked into their apartment and lured her into the act.

It was gathered that he used his phone to record the act and promised the girl he would delete it later when she complained. However,he went on and started using it to extort money from her.

It was also gathered that while it lasted, the girl kept stealing her parents money in order to placate Ebuka over the threat of revealing the video to the public. And when she could no longer afford to steal from her parents, he shared the video with her friends and the mother.

The barbaric act was reported to the Police at Alaba Division and the 22- year-old was arrested. He was later transferred to the SCIID Panti, Yaba, for defilement and his conduct by recording the video and posting same on the social media.

The Police also arrested under aged school mates, who shared the alleged sex video on the social media, and charged them before the Court while they remained in Correctional Centre for conspiracy.

However, at the SCIID, Panti, the prime suspect, Ebuka, was merely charged before the Yaba Magistrates Court for lesser offence and as the charge of statutory rape was dropped.

The prosecutor, Supol Thomas, did not object to his being granted bail. Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.B. Ayeye, granted Ebuka bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum.He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.

The manner the Police at SCIID, Panti, handed the matter by charging Ebuka with lesser offence has sparked a lot of protests in the social media as a group, known as Advocate for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network, has implored the Police to ensure that the victim get deserved justice by placing the right charge against the defendants.

Comrade Adeyimi Akin-Akala noted that the 13-year-old girl was traumatized and is yet to recover from the shock since the incident occurred.

He however claimed that the only thing that will restore her confidence is justice which the Government owes her through the Police.
