Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo

In a major security operation, a joint security force led by the Anambra State Police Command successfully destroyed terrorist camps in the Ogbunka forests of Orumba South Local Government Area.

According to a statement released by Anambra Police Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the operation, which took place on March 29, 2024, targeted hideouts believed to be used by insurgents responsible for recent attacks on police formations in the state.

“The cowardly criminals fled in the face of the onslaught by our well-coordinated team,” Ikenga said.

The recovered items highlight a potential threat that was successfully neutralized. “Items recovered from the camps included six Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) already primed for attacks and two walkie-talkies,” Ikenga further stated. “Also recovered were substantial food and groceries supply.”

The statement emphasized the importance of dismantling the physical infrastructure used by the terrorists. “All the camps were subsequently destroyed to deny the insurgents bases for launching attacks,” Ikenga said.

This operation reflects the ongoing efforts by Nigerian security forces to combat terrorism and ensure public safety. While no arrests were reported, the removal of the explosives and destruction of the camps represent a significant setback for the targeted terrorist group.

The Anambra State Police Command is urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities. They have also assured the public of their continued commitment to protecting lives and property.
