Axxela and NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) Commission 5km Gas Pipeline in Eko Atlantic City

In a significant development, Axxela Limited, in partnership with NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML), has successfully inaugurated a 5km natural gas pipeline network in Victoria Island. This pipeline connects Eko Atlantic City to piped natural gas (PNG), marking a crucial milestone in their ongoing 72.5km pipeline infrastructure project. The larger project aims to span from Victoria Island to the Lekki metropolis.

The newly commissioned 5km pipeline network runs from Outer Marina to Kuramo Beach and constitutes the first phase of this ambitious project. It is expected to serve customers from Five Cowrie River by Army Officers’ Mess in Bonny Camp, extending all the way to the proposed Lekki International Airport. Axxela Limited, a pioneer private sector developer of natural gas solutions and captive power generation in Nigeria, views this as an opportunity to expand natural gas infrastructure within the Greater Lagos Area. By connecting Eko Atlantic City to natural gas, they are not only fueling businesses but also enabling the development of self-sustaining clusters and contributing to Nigeria’s socio-economic growth.

Justin Ezeala, Managing Director of NGML, expressed optimism about advancing the natural gas pipeline network to the highly commercial Victoria Island and the rapidly developing Lekki area. This step represents a positive direction for natural gas infrastructure development across Nigeria and Africa.
