Bandits have taken over our villages, Ondo residents cry out

The people of Adejubu, Adewole, Olotin, Olonda and Apedu in Ondo State have amplify their wailing to the state government as they claim that armed herdsmen are attacking them as they go about their daily endeavors.

It was reported that some suspected herdsmen attacked the 5 communities stated above (in Akure North Local Government Area of the state on Sunday) defining a sensitive security status of the state. Speak about the attack by herdsmen, Mr Dennis, a victim of the attack noted claimed his house in Apedu village was attacked by bandits and his family have been finding it difficult to sleep in the village since the awful incident occurred as they are afraid of another attack by the herdsmen again.

Elder Jacob Akinwumi of Adejubu village further streesed that the fear imposed on farmers by the bandits has caused them to stay away from their farms. However, claimed that this might result in hunger.

Addressing the security issues, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, claimed that the state government is always at the peak of the matter and would be resolved as affected stakeholders are have been invited.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Undie Adie noted the case as false alarm, he said, “When our men got there they did not see any destruction, there was no crisis in the area, it was a false alarm.”
