Buhari Arrives Daura Ahead Polls

Ahead of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections, the President, Major General Muhammad Buhari (retd.), on Thursday, arrived at his home town, Daura, Katsina State.

The presidential jet that brought him touched down at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport at 4:41pm.

Governor Aminu Masari, some members of his cabinet, including the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Musa Abubakar, Commissioner for Health, Yakubu Danja, as well as heads of various security agencies in the state welcomed the President at the airport.

Also on hand to welcome the President at the airport were politicians and some businessmen.

Buhari was, thereafter, flown to Daura in a white helicopter.

Meanwhile, the Katsina State Police Command, on Thursday, announced restrictions on human and vehicular movements during the Saturday election period.

The command also announced that all entry and exit points to the state would be blocked and manned by security operatives on the election day.

The Spokesman for the Command, SP Gambo Isah, announced the restrictions and other strategies, which, he said, were meant to ensure peaceful polls in the state.

The command assured the electorate of security, urging them to turn out in numbers for the elections.

The command added that “politicians and Very Important Personalities are barred from going to any voting centre with their security details and orderlies. Also, they are warned to desist from moving from one place to another on that day as stipulated by the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended).”

It stressed that it had made “adequate arrangement to provide security for all voters to come out en masse and cast their votes without any fear of harassment or molestation.”

The command also warned that any person or group of persons, who may contemplate undermining the electoral process, would be tackled decisively.
