Court Voids Activist’s Rustication By UI

The Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has declared as null and void the rustication of a student activist at the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Ojo Aderemi, by the university authorities.

Ojo, who was the Students’ Union President at that time in the university, was rusticated on April 10, 2019, but secured an order for his reinstatement in the court presided by Justice Uche Agomoh.

“I feel vindicated, irrespective of the length of time. I believe there is no time too long to pursue justice,” he told our correspondent in a phone interview on Wednesday.

Aderemi, in a statement, said, “If I get a chance to live the past again, I will avoid this or that mistake but I will never abandon my principles. I fought and I won, for myself, for people with genuine convictions, and for all time.”

Speaking on what he was doing for the period of his rustication, Aderemi said he spent the time doing some important and productive things.
