COVID-19: Ekiti State Government begins the fumigation of major locations

The Ekiti State Government has begun to purify strategic locations contained by the state.

The state Commissioner for Environment, Gbenga Agbeyo, claimed that the fumigation undertaken in collaboration with the Emma-POP Ventures Limited, was to inhibit residents of the state from contracting the disease.

Agbeyo noted that the exercise, which began on Saturday, was “one of the hands-on actions by the government to mitigate the spread COVID-19.”

He acknowledged that targeted locations include markets, hospitals, schools and churches.

Agbeyo advised residents of the state to continue to abide by the directives set by Governor Kayode Fayemi with regards to all measures that have been placed to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

The Head, Emma-POP Ventures Limited, Ademola Popoola, alleged the exercise was to espousal the mission and foresight of Dr Fayemi to inhibit the spread COVID-19 and bestow a conducive environment for citizens. he further claimed that the exercise would hold for four days.

Meanwhile, Fayemi on Sunday assured members of the COVID-19 Response Resource Mobilisation Committee in the state of funds generated would be properly accounted for by the state government .

Members of the team are:
Afe Babalola, Niyi Adebayo, Segun Oni Ayodele Fayose and Adelusi-Adeluyi, as chairman.

The Governor said ” I want to assure you that the resources mobilised will be used for the purpose for which it is intended and will maintain transparency and accountability in all the processes.” Fayemi further noted suggestions and contributions would be duly respected as the experience of the members would be considered collectively.

Kayode Fayemi concludes that the meeting of the 47 members committee would be held through teleconferencing and other technological means, in adherence to the social distance order.
