COVID-19: Oyo State to go the local way in treating coronavirus cases- Seyi Makinde

Oyo State Government through Governor Seyi Makinde on Wednesday has declared that the state would soon go the local way in inquest to combat the stings on the infectious COVID-19 in the state. The Governor in a meeting with the State’s COVID-19 task force in the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, admitted that, Nigeria over the years have her unique solutions to solve medical issues in the country. The Governor noted that the state Government is currently working on laws that would compel the use of face mask, as part of the measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Oyo State.

He said:

“We are looking at local solutions. I know that a lot of people have been calling me all sorts of names on the social media but, from my experience, one thing that I know you have to do to conquer the virus is that you have to boost your immunity. We do have local solutions and, of course, we have to defer to experts’ opinion as part of the home-grown solution to deal with COVID-19.”

The Governor acknowledged the fact that there would be critics and questions concerning the state’s research institutes and funding. He noted that Questions regarding the possibility of the state to offer a solution to the world would surface but yes would be his answer to all these.

Seyi Makinde also noted that seasonal changes often times are responsible for the inception of the various kinds of diseases across the globe, but Nigerians have ways of dealing with these diseases locally.

However, the isolation process for the two new cases confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state had already been initiated and the contact tracing and collection of sample had commenced.He concluded.
