Delta Police Uncover Teenagers’ Fake Kidnapping Plot

In a shocking revelation, the Delta State Police Command has apprehended three teenagers for orchestrating the fake kidnapping of one of their friends, leading to the extortion of N700,000. The incident, which has sent ripples through the community, was disclosed in a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.

The trio, all 17 years old, conspired to stage the kidnapping in Agbor, contacting the parent of one of them and demanding a ransom. Their scheme unraveled after they collected the ransom, leading to their arrest.

SP Edafe, in his statement, expressed dismay at the lengths to which the youths went for financial gain: “Short cut to success leads to a short life. Imagine a 17-year-old who knows how to fake kidnap just to collect money from the parent,” he said, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

The case has brought to light the issue of youth involvement in crime for quick financial rewards, prompting a call for vigilance among parents and guardians. The Delta State Police Command has assured the public that justice will be served, and such acts will not be tolerated.
