Diaspora Sponsors of #EndBadGovernance Protests Monitored by Immigration Service

The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs. Kemi Nandap, has revealed that sponsors of the recent #EndBadGovernance protests based in the diaspora are under close surveillance. According to a statement made during a combined news conference by security agency heads and Service Chiefs, Nandap emphasized that these individuals will be arrested upon their return to Nigeria.

The NIS has added the diaspora sponsors to its watchlist, ensuring that any attempt they make to enter the country will result in their apprehension and subsequent handover to the appropriate authorities. In response to the protests, the NIS has deployed additional officers to both land borders and airports, bolstering security and effective monitoring of entry ports. The goal is to prevent foreign intervention and maintain stability within the nation.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, also confirmed that the police have identified some sponsors and blocked their accounts. Many of these individuals reside abroad, making coordination between security agencies crucial. The Department of State Services (DSS) is actively monitoring those concerned and collaborating with the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit to uncover additional persons behind the funding of the protests.
