Edo Decides: EFCC raids polling stations to combat vote buying

Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission

As voters head to the polls for the gubernatorial election in Edo State, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has deployed teams to various polling stations to prevent vote buying.

Frank Mbah, the deputy inspector-general of police overseeing the election, shared this information during an interview with Channels TV on Saturday morning.

He indicated that intelligence reports had revealed plans by some politicians to use counterfeit identity cards for fake election observers. He assured the public that law enforcement agencies are prepared to address any illegal activities.

Mbah also mentioned that certain individuals have acquired police uniforms with the intent to disrupt the election. “We are tracking those involved. If you’ve made fake uniforms and plan to recruit criminals, be aware that we are coming for you,” he stated.
