Eid-el-Kabir: Police Beef Up Security In Ekiti State

The police in Ekiti State has announced the deployment of security personnel to prayer grounds across the state as Muslims mark this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Bello Ahmed, who stated this in a statement in Ado Ekiti, also warned persons with criminal motives to steer clear of the state during the Eid-El Kabir celebrations or meet their waterloo.

CP Ahmed, who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, said the command would deal with anyone caught perpetrating nefarious activities in any part of the state during the period and beyond.

He said: “The Safer Highways and Anti-Crime Patrol teams have been deployed at major roads and highways throughout the state to ensure the safety of travellers, commuters and other road users.”

The statement said area commanders and divisional police officers had been directed “to beef up security and ensure deployment of police personnel to all Eid prayer grounds and other venues of celebration throughout the state to the commission of crimes and ensure hitch-free celebration.”
