ELECTION TRIBUNAL: Tinubu, VP Tender Almost 20 Exhibits Against Lp, Obi’s Petition

President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima has tendered a total number of 18 exhibits at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) in defence against the petitions filed by Labour Party and Peter Obi, challenging Tinubu’s victory at the polls.

The 18 exhibits tendered to the court were to disprove allegations of non-qualifications of Tinubu to contest for the 2023 presidential election.

Vice President, Shettima also tendered his letter of withdrawal from the Borno South Senatorial race.

The duo also tendered copy of the Labour Party’s membership register for Anambra State to proof that Peter Obi is not a registered member of the LP.

Tinubu and Shettima’s lead counsel, Wole Olanipekun, SAN tendered the documents on behalf of the President and his vice.

The SAN tendered the document along with membership register LP forwarded to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The membership register was forwarded to the INEC chairman on 25th of April, 2022.

In their response to the petition, they had argued that Obi was not qualified to have contested in the last presidential election as he was not a member of the party at the election.

Counsel to the petitioners, Livy Uzoukwu, SAN, objected to the admissibility of the documents.

The court admitted and marked them as exhibits.

Meanwhile, the defense has been stepped down for calling witnesses.
