Arsenal legend Ian Wright has commended manager Unai Emery for showing that he is tougher than his predecessor, Arsene Wenger.

Wright said that the former PSG manager deserved commendation for making ruthless substitutions in Arsenal’s 3-2 loss to Chelsea on Saturday, 18 August.

Emery made two big decisions during Arsenal’s 3-2 loss to Chelsea in substituting Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil.

Many Arsenal fans applauded his action, and Wright was not left out.
Speaking on The Debate, Wright said: “What was encouraging was that he made those substitutions, big substitutions for me.”

“Xhaka would have stayed on under Wenger, so would Ozil, and what’s that said now in that dressing is that ‘no one’s going to be safe, if you don’t do what we need you to do, you’re coming off’ and I’m pleased to see that.”
