Beautiful and talented actress, Uche Ogbodo, needs no introduction. Uche has featured in over 50 movies since her debut in Nollywood. The beautiful mother of one speaks with ABIOLA ALABA PETERS, revealing her plans for the New Year and why she’s called Nigeria’s ‘Lady Gaga’

Its 2019, what are your plans and what do you have for your fans?

Well, I have so many plans and surprises for my fans, but I will want to leave that to God because he is the one on whose grace I hope to achieve these plans. As for my fans, I have so much in line up for them in this New Year; they should keep their fingers crossed and keep praying for me. I also want to use this opportunity to wish them a happy New Year.

You are beautiful and well endowed, how do you cope with the male fans or fellow actors, or admirers staring at your boobs?

That is an issue I cannot help. So I let nature take its course.

Your progress in Nollywood has been steady and you are rising high. Do you think you are a threat to any of the A-list actresses?

Well I am no threat to anyone; I am only doing my thing in my own little corner. Just here minding my own business, that’s all.

Who exactly is Uche Ogbodo?

Uche Ogbodo is first and foremost an Igbo girl, who hails from Akpugo Nkanu in Enugu State. I’m born into the family of Chief and Mrs. Godwin Ogbodo as the second child of five children. My basic philosophy in life is ‘I must serve God, or face death’. My strength as an artist is derived from my love for art and all its components. I am philanthropic by nature, because my first love is reaching out to the less privileged. My second love is music.

Really, do people call me Lady Gaga? Wow! I have never heard it, I mean I didn’t know I am being called that, but I am not Lady Gaga. I am Uche Ogbodo. For the hair styles I wear, my spontaneity is my basic inspiration, and because I love fashion a lot and love to set trends, I just go with the flow of my heart with whatever hair style or hair colour. I just have fun with everything fashion no matter how risky.

What is your take on movie business and what are some of the challenges you had as a young actress?

Movie making is a very lucrative business. It exposes you to lots of positive connections and fame. I love it so much and I don’t think any other business can give me as much joy as I get here. A lot of things also come with the job but I hardly see any challenges in them. So there are no challenges really. It’s just perfect as a career and I am enjoying every bit of my time in Nollywood.

So far, which words would you use to best describe your career?

Two words to best describe it will be: bundle of joy and bag of thorns because it been full of ups and downs.

When and how exactly did you start acting?

I started acting when I was 19 years old. Then I had just enrolled into the university but the challenges were so frustrating for me then; I couldn’t manage both worlds so I left one for the other. The first major movie I starred in was ‘Another Bondage’ a movie directed by Mac Collins Chidebe (Mr. China) and produced by CORUMA. This movie was my major break into Nollywood.
