EXCLUSIVE: Lagos APC Governorship Primary To Be Moved Again As Abuja Intervenes

The Lagos APC governorship primary is set to be moved again following the intervention of the national secretariat in the crisis rocking the state chapter of the party, Report says.

Akinwunmi Ambode, the governor, is being challenged by Jide Sanwo-Olu, the preferred choice of Bola Tinubu, former governor of the state and a national leader of the APC.

The APC governorship primary was moved from Tuesday to Saturday, and later to Sunday.

But the Lagos primary was moved to Monday in the hope that the crisis between Ambode and Tinubu, his erstwhile godfather, would be resolved.

It was learnt that the primary may be moved to Tuesday or Wednesday to allow the national secretariat solve a number of issues in the state.

“For instance, Ambode does not even have the new APC membership card,” a source in the national exco informed.

“He cannot vote if the primary holds on Monday. The producers of the card did not hand over the cards to the national secretariat as expected but handed them directly to the Lagos party exco. This has led to a lopsided distribution that may impact on the final result.”

Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the party, is due in Lagos on Monday to personally see to the resolution of the crisis.

There are suggestions that party members should be allowed to use the slip that was issued to them after registration.

It is thought that the distribution of the membership cards is not in favour of Ambode, who launched an astonishing attack against Sanwo-Olu on Sunday afternoon.
