Gabriel Suswam Asserts Competence and Superior Credentials for PDP Chairmanship

Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has thrown his hat into the ring for the position of National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In an exclusive interview with ARISE NEWS, Suswam emphasized his consistency and extensive credentials as key factors that set him apart from other contenders.

Suswam’s track record within the party dates back to 1999, making him a seasoned PDP loyalist. He has held high-ranking positions across both the executive and legislative branches. Unlike some aspirants who have intermittently left and returned to the party, Suswam has remained steadfast, demonstrating unwavering commitment.

Speaking about his vision for the PDP, Suswam outlined several critical initiatives. If elected chairman, he plans to: Activate the Discipline Committee: He aims to enforce party discipline by addressing breaches of party provisions. Even high-profile members, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), would not be exempt from scrutiny.

Further, while not ruling out the possibility of merging with other parties, Suswam’s immediate focus is on fortifying the PDP. Only after achieving this will he consider strategic alliances. He also Suswam acknowledges that undue influence from previous officeholders has contributed to the crisis in Rivers State. His leadership would prioritize addressing this issue.

Suswam’s bid for the PDP chairmanship has garnered support from influential figures, including former Speaker (pro-tempore) of the Benue State House of Assembly, Terngu Tsegba. As the internal party crisis continues, all eyes are on the upcoming PDP convention, where Suswam’s credentials and consistency will be put to the test.
