Gunmen Kill LP’s Ward Chairman In Benue

Gunmen suspected to be armed herdsmen have tragically killed Sunday Oche, the Labour Party (LP) Ward Chairman in Igumale, Ado Local Government Area of Benue State. The incident occurred on Monday while Oche was working on his cassava farm. He was ambushed and shot dead, while five others who were with him managed to escape with gunshot wounds.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers also stole two motorcycles belonging to the group. The community youths later retrieved Oche’s body, and the incident has been reported to the police. The Labour Party has expressed its condolences and is awaiting the family’s arrangements for his burial.

This tragic event highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region, with calls for the government to address the frequent attacks by armed herdsmen on local communities.
