A graduate of Princeton College, Surulere, Lagos Nigeria, Victory Yinka-Banjo who was one of the best graduating students of WAEC in 2019 has been given full schorlaship by 19 universities in the US and Canada. The girl who is said to be a genius became the toast of these universities after she performed exceptionally well in all examinations she attempted coming too 1% in Nigeria and top 5% globally.
The universities and institutions that offered her full schorlaship include, Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Toronto, University of Virginia, Princeton University, Yale University, among others.
The girl is currently contemplating which of the scholarships to accept. Speaking with the Principal of her college in Surulere, Lagos, Mr. Steve Obiakor, he said he never expected anything less as the offers did not come to him as a surprise considering the girl’s level of performance in both internal and external examinations.
According to him, “As difficult as situation of things are in Nigeria, the Nigerian child if given the right opportunity in a right environment will perform creditably wel.” He goes further to say that the teachers are happy and congratulate her. “Victory is a testimony of the fact that hard work pays. Irrespective of being brilliant, she worked very hard too. She has set a standard that every Princeton student wants to follow. We are all very happy with her and we do not want it to be a rare occurrence; we hope to see more of her this year too”
