INSECURITY: Malami Reacts As Akeredolu Dares FG, Says Nigeria’s Policing System Has Failed

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, has said Nigerians will have no choice to protect themselves, if the Muhammadu Buhari led administration continue to fail in it’s responsibility as a government.

Akeredolu made this warning on Thursday, while attending an event organized by the Attorney-Generals of the 36 States of the Federation in Lagos. He further asked the police to pack up if the Federal Government could not meet their equipment needs.

In his words, “We will carry arms very soon, Oga Malami (the AGF), there is no other way, the police have failed,” the governor declared.

Reacting to the statement by Akeredolu, AGF, Abubakar Malami (SAN), accused state governors of been resckless in their duties.

He added that, state governors cannot continue to agitate for restructuring and state police when they are responsible for the compromise and mismanagement of the current system.

“The present controversies surrounding the Paris/London Club loan refunds could have been avoided if the NGF/state governments and ALGON, who engaged the services of consultants and contractors honoured their agreements.

“NGF and ALGON have not denied engaging the consultants and contractors on behalf of their respective states and local governments,” Malami said.
