Veteran publisher and politician, Dele Momodu, has described the crisis between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as embarrassing.
He also described the relationship between the two parties as delicate, acknowledging Wike’s previous contributions to the PDP.
Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with Arise TV, Momodu, however, advised Wike to focus on his new role as the FCT Minister and stop dragging issues with the PDP and his estranged godson, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.
According to the veteran publisher, if he had the power, he would have fired Wike long ago.
“The crux of the matter has been that one of their former colleagues, now a minister in the FCT, is working for the APC in government, and they’ve been trying to manage him,” Momodu explained.
He said nobody could have predicted the fallout between Wike and Fubara, saying, “Nobody expected the godfather and the godson to have any issues whatsoever.”
Momodu added that Wike should have backed down completely following the intervention of President Bola Tinubu.
“If I was in the shoes of Nyesom Wike, the moment the president intervened positively, I expected him to step back.
“I don’t think anybody would have come back to control Wike when he was governor,” he remarked.
Momodu maintained that he has been in touch with Wike over the incidents and disagreements, but if things continue the way they are, it is either the Minister kills PDP or the party gets rid of him.
“I wrote him letters in the last two years, copious letters, warning him about what would come because I’m a good student of history.”
“It’s either he will kill PDP or PDP will get rid of.
“If I had the power, I would have fired Wike long ago, but I don’t have the power… because the embarrassment to our party is unprecedented,” Momodu submitted.
