Lagos Mobilises Relief Materials For Train-Bus Crash Victims

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management has donated relief packages to victims of the collision between a train and a bus conveying staff of the Lagos State Government last Thursday.

According to a statement made available to newsmen by the state government, the donation was part of the organisation’s effort to support and bring succour to those who suffered injuries in the accident.

The Registrar of the Institute, Ms Toyin Naiwo, while presenting the packages to the state at the Public Service Office/Office of the Head of Service, said the donation was also to show solidarity and support to the government.

Condoling with families of those who lost their lives in the accident, Naiwo prayed to God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

She also commiserated with the the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu; the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, the entire Body of Permanent Secretaries and all MDAs affected by the accident.

The packages were received on behalf of the government by the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs ‘Sunkanmi Oyegbola, while the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mrs Boladele Dapo-Thomas, thanked the institute for the donated items.

According to Dapo-Thomas, the packages will not only be of benefit to the victims still receiving treatment in hospitals but also to those that have been discharged.
