NYSC DG Warns Corpers To Shun Cultism, Drug Abuse

Director-General (DG) of National Youth Service Corps, Brig.-Gen. Yusha’u Ahmed, on Friday gave a strict warning to the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream One corps members to distance themselves from cultism and drug abuse, especially in the NYSC orientation camp.

Ahmed, in a nationwide address to the corps members, on Friday, warned the corps.

He said anyone that violates the scheme’s dress code would be sanctioned as stated in the NYSC Act.

The DG also urged the corps members to familiarise themselves with the NYSC bylaws and the provisions of the NYSC Act, for them to have a successful service year.

He added, “You must adhere to all camp rules and be obedient to the course officials. Let me also warn you that vices such as cultism and drug abuse are strictly prohibited on camp.

“For the avoidance of doubt, any violation of the dress code will attract appropriate sanctions as spelt out in the NYSC Act. I enjoin you to adhere to the official dress code for corps members and not only must you dress well, but also ensure you adorn the right kits for every occasion.”

Ahmed, also advised the corps members to take full advantage of the namely orientation, four cardinal programmes of the scheme, primary assignment, community development service and passing out/winding up activities, to contribute their quota to national development.
