Ondo 2020: I’ll Reverse My Decision To Quit Active Politics – Williams Tells Akingboye

Veteran politician, elder-statesman and community leader, Chief J. T Williams, has said he would reconsider participating in active politics because of the aspiration of Otunba Bamidele Akingboye to become the governor of Ondo State next year.

Chief Williams, made the pronouncement on Saturday during a consultative visit to his residence in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The septugenarian, and highly principled personality with distinguished leadership qualities has done so well to influence the societies by ensuring competent persons are brought into government.

The veteran politician who was moved by the intimidating profile, antecedents, charisma and transformation agenda of Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA), expressed his readiness to reconsider participation in active politics for effective implementation of the brilliant ideas embedded in the agenda put forward by the governorship aspirant.

Chief Williams, an accomplished commercial farmer, also embraced the place of agricultural revolution in job creation, economic development, sustainability and increased food supply as presented by Akingboye as one of his core programmes if elected into office next year.

He maintained that a knowledgeable leader like Akingboye whose ability to think outside the box is immeasurable, was needed to put the state on right footing.

Chief Williams agreed that, with a successful entrepreneur who had recorded impressive breakthrough in his businesses for decades was best to be saddled with the responsibilities of piloting the affairs of a state like Ondo that is blessed with numerous human and natural resources .

In his speech, Akingboye thanked the host and assured the people of the state of massive development across all levels of government.

Akingboye saddened by the indolent attitude shown towards Ondo bitumen exploration, disclosed that the natural resources was capable of producing over one thousand products, that would create a large market for residents and foreign investors.

He said ” Ondo State ought to be the richest state in Africa but for poor leadership it has suffered economic downturn. The Olokola bitumen project which is capable of creating a million jobs will receive necessary support for full implementation if elected as governor.”

Akingboye added that special consideration would be given to small scale business owners by increasing their financial strength for economic growth and expansion, which will automatically amount to creation of wealth and its equitable distribution.

He reiterated his commitment to transforming Ondo state from a civil service state to an industrial hub of international standard, with high employments rate to reduce challenges of unemployment and kidnapping for ransom in the state.
