Ondo begins Teacher’s Recruitment Today

In a move aimed at addressing the teacher shortage in rural areas, the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB) has commenced a five-day recruitment exercise.

Termed as the “Recruitment of Teachers for Rural Areas,” the program kicks off today, April 2nd, and will conclude on Saturday, April 6th, 2024.

“The exercise underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the quality of teachers in the state’s public primary schools,” said Prince Bolu Diesel Ajijo, Director of Information and Public Relations for ODSUBEB

This targeted recruitment effort aims to fill vacant positions specifically within rural schools. Qualified teachers are encouraged to apply through the official ODSUBEB recruitment portal: ODSUGEB Recruitment Portal.

The lack of teachers in rural areas is a persistent challenge in many Nigerian states. This initiative by the Ondo State government highlights a growing focus on ensuring equitable access to quality education across the state.

Some critics have suggested prioritizing the recruitment of local teachers from the specific communities.  This would potentially address concerns about teacher retention rates in these remote locations.

To be eligible, applicants must possess a recognized teaching qualification. This could be a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or a bachelor’s degree in education (B.Ed), such as a Bachelor of Arts in Education (B.A.Ed) or Bachelor of Science in Education (B.Sc.Ed).

Interested applicants can find more information and submit their applications through the designated ODSUBEB recruitment portal https://www.odsgsubeb.org With applications open for just five days, qualified teachers are encouraged to apply swiftly to be considered for these open positions.
