The Ondo State Government has expressed surprise and concern over the withholding of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for some students in the state by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
According to reports, despite the state government having fully paid the required registration fees, the results of several public secondary school students remain withheld.
Reacting to the situation, the Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr. Olaolu Akindolire, expressed shock, noting that WAEC had not provided any explanation for the withheld results.
In an official statement issued by the Ministry’s Head of Information and Media, Olaoluwa Meshack, Mr. Akindolire reaffirmed that all necessary fees had been settled and questioned why WAEC would withhold the results at a critical time when students across the country are seeking admission into tertiary institutions.
The Commissioner further warned that the delay in releasing the results could jeopardize the students’ chances of securing admission into universities and other higher institutions. He called on WAEC to expedite the release of the results to prevent any negative impact on the students’ future.
