As the political temperature in Ondo State rises with the approaching gubernatorial election, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, has once again publicly endorsed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. This bold move comes despite looming threats of impeachment and internal party conflicts.
The endorsement was reiterated during a meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) in Abuja, where Oladiji, accompanied by 15 other lawmakers, expressed unwavering support for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s re-election bid. “Governor Aiyedatiwa has demonstrated exceptional leadership and has significantly turned around the fortunes of our state in a short period,” Oladiji stated.
This development signifies a consolidation of support for Aiyedatiwa, contrasting sharply with the previous week when 13 assembly members distanced themselves from the Speaker’s endorsement.
The Speaker’s re-endorsement could potentially shift the political dynamics within the state assembly and influence the upcoming election.The Ondo Speaker praised the NWC, led by Abdullahi Ganduje, for its role in fostering unity within the state’s APC faction following the demise of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
