Plateau Gov Relaxes Curfew in Jos-Bukuru Metropolis

Governor Caleb Mutfwang

In a bid to restore normalcy and ease tensions, the Plateau State Government has once again adjusted the curfew imposed on the Jos-Bukuru metropolis. The curfew, initially instituted due to violent protests, will now allow residents to move freely between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily.

The decision to relax the curfew comes after a period of unrest triggered by the “End Bad Governance” protests. Hoodlums took advantage of the demonstrations to loot public and private assets in Jos North Local Government Area. In response, the government imposed a 24-hour curfew to maintain order and security.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang, in consultation with security agencies, authorized this relaxation. He emphasized that decisions would continue to be made in the best interest of the people. As the security situation improves, the government will review the curfew further.

Residents within the Jos-Bukuru metropolis are urged to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities promptly. The delicate balance between maintaining peace and respecting citizens’ rights remains a priority for the state administration.
