Retired ACP Unable To Feed His Family, Seeks IG’s Help

A retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Simeon Ajisafe, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Alikali Baba, to expedite action on the payment of his entitlements.

Ajisafe, who dropped an open letter which he addressed to the IG, lamented the non-payment of his entitlements for the past 12years.

The letter titled, ‘Re—Complaint of non-payment of my salary arrears and other entitlements (AP/ No.36078, ACP Simeon A.E. Ajisafe (rtd)’, read in part, “My ordeal with the Nigeria Police Force dates back to May 25, 2011, when I was unlawfully dismissed from the Force. I contested my dismissal at the National Industrial Court, Abuja, and was vindicated on December 16, 2019.

“Following the judgment of the court, the chairman of the Police Service Commission, in a letter dated July 28, 2021, upheld the court’s judgment, which was further endorsed by you.

“On August 17, 2022, a follow-up signal from the office of the Force secretary indicated that I had been promoted to my desired rank of an Assistant Commissioner of Police, with the date of my statutory retirement backdated to April 1, 2021.”

The retired policeman noted that though he appreciated the IG’s efforts thus far, he urged him to issue a clear directive as regards the payment of his salary arrears and emoluments. He added, “The consequence of not receiving my salary arrears, pension, gratuity and other entitlements for over 12 years was better imagined than experienced.

According to him, he had been unable to feed his family, finance the education of his children, and take care of his health.

The letter went on, “I have faced serious financial embarrassment from many individuals.

“In view of these catastrophic developments, I humbly enjoin the IG to give an urgent directive to whoever is holding onto my salary arrears. The MD, NPF Pensions Limited and the Director General of PENCOM should not be exempted from those directives.”
