REVEALED: The Untold Story, Names And Identity Of Those Behind Idris Abdulkareem, 50Cent Clash

The incident hit the headlines years back, when Nigerian Rapper, Idris Abdulkareem attacked his visiting American counterpart, 50 Cent following preferential treatment in favour of the later when he was in the country to perform along with his Nigerian counterparts.

Years after this incident, an industry godfather and thorough entertainment marketer, Tunde Osinibusi, a.k.a Laface , has revealed the hidden facts behind the attack and the masterminds.

Speaking on Dux FM 94.7 Morning show, Panorama, Laface disclosed that Idris’s reaction was the result of the industry’s stakeholders decision to resist the attempt to rubbish the foundation of the respect he laid for local acts through his Lagos show with Wyclef.

According to the international promoter, he had used the opportunity of bringing Wyclef to the country, to expose Nigerian artistes to what is obtainable internationally.

To do this, an agreement was reached with Wyclef. That he must come to Nigeria to put on the hat of superiority. Rather, he should mingle with the local acts on ground to enable them pick from his wealth of experience and exposure, to enable them learn and get accustomed to international practice.

This agreement was carried out to the letter, even to the astonishment of Wyclef’s hosts. The international act first displayed simplicity, by riding on power bike from the Airport to his hotel on the Island to the admiration of all.

Hinting that Tuface and Sound Sultan took very good advantage of the arrangement, it was however another kettle of fish when another promoter brought 50Cent to the country.

Compared to the Wyclef experience, organisers of the 50Cent show encouraged favouritism and segregation between the imported act and the local counterparts.

According to Laface, the segregation and preferential treatment became noticeable almost immediately the act arrived and industry operators like Charly Boy became enraged and with Idris sharing the same sentiment, became a ready tool of protest and launched attack against Cent whom Idris engaged in a physical confrontation.

“Obviously, Idris didn’t act alone in his attack against 50 Cent, he had backers or those we could call sponsors, but Idris over acted the script”. Laface cautioned people not to expect much from today’s acts whose songs promotes bad characters and drug usage. “How many of the acts are even drug free themselves. We should be real. You can’t plant maize and expect to reap yam

“In time past, as an artist, you cant write raw lyrics because there is effective censorship that will hamper its spread. But its a different ball game today because you don’t really need the radio to push your song. “Artists today are not about value, but the money. Whatever they have are pushed to the club and every club banger will naturally find its way to the street” Mentioning that the easiest way to lose money is through investment in entertainment, Laface said Nigerian acts always want to run before they crawl, adding however that, they should learn to do the business the right way so they can get the expected result.
