Senate Vows To Thoroughly Scrutinize Ministerial Nominees

The Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has vowed that the ministerial nominees will be thoroughly scrutinize by the Senate.

The scrutinization will be used to ascertain the ministerial nominees competences and capabilities to serve Nigeria diligently.

Bamidele spoke in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday shortly before a Communion Service in his home town, to mark his 60th birthday.

The Senate Leader said, “Nigerians are expecting us to do a thorough screening. But take a bow and go’’ is not a non-parliamentary convention. It has become a practice all over the world. That person must be a former member of the parliament who is well known to us. Somebody we have confidence in his ability to give Nigerians qualitative leadership.

“We are going to follow the constitution to ensure that we deliver our mandate to make those who voted for us happy. This will occur at the level of parliament, oversight functions and at the committee level.”

A senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial-district said that upper chamber was keen about ensuring the nominees are capable to deliver.
