Senator Seeks Justice For Soldiers Ambushed And Brutally Murdered Delta Community

The nation is in mourning after the brutal ambush in Delta State on March 14, 2024, which led to the tragic deaths of several Nigerian soldiers. The attack has sparked a nationwide outcry and a determined manhunt for the assailants.

Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South Senatorial District, expressed his horror at the events: “This crisis has taken too far a toll. We must bring the masterminds of this heinous crime to justice,” he stated, emphasizing the need for a holistic investigation.

Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, an army spokesperson, confirmed the deaths: “The reinforcement team led by the commanding officer was also attacked, leading to the death of the commanding officer, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers,” he reported, adding that the Chief of Defence has directed an immediate investigation and the arrest of those involved.

Human rights activist Femi Falana called for legal action: “We must prosecute the murderers of our military officers and soldiers. This is a matter of justice and human rights,” he urged, highlighting the need for the government to prevent further violence.

As the search continues, the nation stands united in its quest for justice and peace, honoring the sacrifice of its soldiers and seeking a resolution to the violence that has shaken the community.
