Soldiers Rescue Abducted Ex-LG Chairman, Arrest Boko Haram Commanders, Others

In a series of daring operations, the Nigerian Army has achieved significant victories against criminal elements, rescuing kidnap victims and apprehending suspected Boko Haram commanders and terrorist logistic suppliers.

Soldiers rescued an abducted former Local Government (LG) chairman in Egbe Community, Yagba Local Government Area, Kogi State.The notorious kidnapping kingpin, Mohammed Bello, was captured during the operation. He had been on the security agencies’ wanted criminals’ watchlist. Acting on credible intelligence, troops arrested two Boko Haram commanders, Bana Yamode and Babagana Usman, who had infiltrated the Damasak Internally Displaced Persons camp in Mobbar Local Government Area.

These commanders were linked to several attacks on military installations. In Ebonyi State, soldiers thwarted a kidnap attempt and arrested a suspect with an Automated Teller Machine card, 48 international passports, and other items.Two suspected Boko Haram logistic suppliers were apprehended, and two minors were rescued.

Fifty Boko Haram suspects and their families surrendered to soldiers in Bama, Gwoza, and Dikwa Local Government Areas. In Yobe State, three Boko Haram collaborators involved in kidnapping and armed robbery were arrested at Gubio Market.

In Jigawa State, nine hoodlums were arrested for looting a shop in Kazaure town, recovering stolen items. The Nigerian Army’s relentless efforts continue to enhance security and protect citizens from criminal threats. These operations demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding lives and maintaining peace across the nation.
