Stay Away From Supplementary Poll – PDP Tells Military

L-R, Uche Secondus, Bukola Saraki and another PDP Chieftain

Uche Secondus, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says declaring elections inconclusive is the terminology used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to “rig elections.”

Ike Abonyi, media aide to Secondus, quoted the PDP national chairman as saying this at the national emergency council meeting of the party.

Secondus asked the military and other security agencies to resist any attempt to manipulate the rerun polls scheduled for Saturday.

He said military is “highly regarded” and it’s their responsibility to guard their names jealously.

The chairman said his party is certain of victory in at least five of the six states slated for supplementary polls.

Secondus asked Mahmood Yakubu, INEC chairman, should remember that he would be held responsible for his actions.

Also speaking at the event, Peter Obi, PDP vice-presidential candidate, said action should be taken against those allegedly directing INEC and security agencies to manipulate elections.

Obi said the worst form of corruption is election rigging because the process of coming into power is far more important that what is done thereafter.

On his part, Senate President Bukola Saraki urged party members not to despair as their victory will be restored by the court.
