Stop Public Ridicule Of Your Traditional Rulers – Olowu of Kuta Kingdom Urge Yorubas

The Paramount Ruler of Kuta Kingdom, Olowu of Kuta, His Royal Majesty, Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude (Tegbosun III), has called on Yorubas to stop public ridicule of her traditional rulers.

In an exclusive interview with Zebra News, the respected Oba, who was on a visit to Lagos, cited the way and manners the Northerners respect and adore their Emirs, saying no matter what, the Hausa’s, Fulanis, etc will never disrespect their traditional rulers.

In his words, “An average Northerner believes 100% in his traditional, especially their Emirs, you can hardly hear or see them rubbishing their own. They see and understand their traditional leaders as their gods.” He continued.

“But this is not so in the South West. Don’t get me wrong, our people belives in culture and traditions, as a matter of fact, they don’t joke with it. But you see, our approach towards our Obas are sometimes wrong, we go as far as insulting and calling our traditional rulers names, all in the name of freedom of expression. And we do this, even in the public domain”.

“This is wrong, traditional rulers are custodian of powers, they are always the first in every community, Yorubas Must learn this act from our brothers and sisters in the North, we can not continue to rubbish our own and expect our children not to do same to us and even to those coming from behind us”. He opined.

Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude (Tegbosun III), was recently recognized by the national body of Society of Digital Newspaper Owners of Nigeria SDNON over his contributions towards culture, tradition and development in Osun State and Yorubaland generally.
