Taylor Swift Fans Banned From Gathering Outside Wembley Stadium

To ensure safety and security during Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated Eras Tour, Wembley Stadium has issued a stern warning to fans without tickets. The practice of “Tay-gating,” where eager Swifties gather outside the venue even if they can’t attend the show, has been officially banned.

The stadium’s dedicated ‘Eras Tour’ webpage now states, “To support the safe entry and exit of everyone within the stadium, no one is allowed to stand outside any entrance or on the Olympic Steps at the front of the stadium. Non-ticket holders will be moved on.” This decision comes after a security threat led to the cancellation of three concerts in Vienna last week.

Wembley Stadium had already tightened security measures following the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing, and these precautions remain in place for Swift’s tour. Fans are allowed only one A4-sized bag, with prohibited items including banners, umbrellas, glass or metal containers, iPads, laptops, aerosol sprays (including sunscreen), and signs larger than a sheet of A4 paper.

Swift, who is playing five nights at Wembley starting from August 15, is set to break records. With the three dates she already played in July, she will equal Take That’s eight-date record at the venue during their 2011 Progress tour. Additionally, Swift will surpass Michael Jackson as the solo artist with the most shows at Wembley in a single tour. The Eras Tour, a global phenomenon, is on track to make over $2 billion in ticket sales by the time it concludes in Canada this December.

Despite concerns that the London dates might be affected by events in Austria, the Metropolitan Police have reassured the public, stating that there is “nothing to indicate” a further threat. They have worked closely with venue security teams to ensure appropriate security and policing plans are in place.
