Toyota Invests in EV Charging Network IONNA to Enhance Charging Access for Customers

Toyota has joined forces with other major automakers to support IONNA, an ambitious EV charging firm. The joint venture aims to build a high-powered charging network across North America, providing convenient and reliable charging options for battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

Toyota joins a group of automakers, including Mercedes, GM, Stellantis, Honda, BMW, and Hyundai-Kia, in backing IONNA.

IONNA was formed last year as a direct competitor to Tesla’s Supercharger network.

By investing in the joint venture, Toyota and Lexus customers gain access to IONNA’s public network of DC fast chargers, set to be deployed later this year.

IONNA plans to install over 30,000 charging ports across North America by 2030, significantly expanding the EV charging infrastructure.

This collaboration underscores the industry’s commitment to sustainable mobility and addresses the growing demand for EVs. As the automotive landscape evolves, Toyota’s involvement in IONNA reflects its dedication to advancing cleaner transportation options for consumers.
