Two Brothers Sentenced To Six Years Imprisonment For Breach Of Trust, Thievery

A Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court, Nasarawa State, has sentenced two brothers, Dauda Abdullahi and Musa Abdullahi, to three years imprisonment each for breach of trust.

The judge, Yusuf Yaqub, sentenced the two brothers after they pleaded guilty to the charges of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and theft, on which they were arraigned.

Yaqub, however, gave the convicts N10, 000 option of fine.

The judge who warned each of the convicts to desist from crime in the future, ordered them to jointly pay N154, 700 as compensation to the complainant.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Agabi Auta, told the court that one Caroline Ogbu of Aso, Mararaba, reported the matter at the Aso Police Station, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, on Sept. Oct. 9.

“The complainant alleged that she entrusted her Bajaj motorcycle to Dauda with agreement that he should be remitting money on daily basis.

“But with intent to steal the motorcycle, Dauda did not remit any money, he rather gave the said motorcycle to his brother, Musa. The complainant said all her efforts to recover her motorcycle proved abortive,” he said.

Auta told the court that the offences contravened Sections 97, 312 and 288 of the Penal Code.(NAN)
