In a significant development, the University of Benin (UniBen) has announced its reopening date after weeks of closure due to student protests. Starting from August 11, students are expected to return to campus and resume academic activities. However, there’s a catch: each student must submit an affidavit of undertaking to ensure good conduct during their stay at the university.
The decision to reopen comes after a series of power outages on campus triggered widespread demonstrations by students. UniBen’s Senate took swift action to address the situation and has now outlined specific conditions for resumption. The affidavit, which students must upload to their Kofa page within two weeks of returning, serves as a commitment to adhere to the university’s guidelines.
Failure to comply with this requirement may result in consequences, including the withholding of academic results. UniBen administration assures students that necessary measures have been taken to prevent further disruptions and ensure a smooth transition back to regular classes.
As the reopening date approaches, students are urged to take note of the guidelines and fulfill their obligations promptly. Let’s hope for a successful and uninterrupted academic year ahead!
