WAEC Confirms Senator, Ademola Adeleke, Sat For May/April 1981 Exams

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has authenticated the certificate of the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, Ademola Adeleke.

Adeleke, who currently represents Osun West senatorial district, was recently accused of parading a forged O’level result, shortly after emerging the candidate of the party.

Two members of the PDP, Rasheed Olabayo and Oluwaseun Idowu, had approached the court seeking an interlocutory order to set aside the election of Adeleke as the candidate of the party and to stop him from parading himself as one, insisting that he did not satisfy the constitutional requirements to contest the governorship primary.

At the hearing of the case today, the examination body said Adeleke sat for the examination in 1981.

In its affidavit sworn to by Henry Sunday Adewunmi Osindeinde, a Deputy Registrar Head of School Examination Department, WAEC said Adeleke sat for the May/April 1981 at Ede Muslim High School, Yidi Road, Ede, with Centre Number: 19645 and Candidate Number 149.
