The lid was blown off Ashiru’s exploit by a woman who pleaded anonymity.
Ashiru, who resides at 40, Efonalaye Street, Akowonjo, Shasha, Lagos, admitted that he has sex with Boluwatife, but that it was only once.
He said: “Her mother is not staying with me because we were never married.
“I just impregnated her by mistake.
“I am now married to a woman who I really love and I have two wonderful children for.
“On the day the incident happened my wife went out to buy somethings from the market then I don’t know what came over me, and as I saw my daughter, I began to have this sexual urge then I raped her forcefully.
“During that time I was not myself, it was like the devil entered inside me, although I was not drunk and I was physically and mentally alright.
“It just had to be the devil that triggered me to commit such sinful act.
“And I wish it had never happened I feel so ashamed.
“I also know I have brought great shame to my family which am sorry for.”
The woman who reported the incident to the police, said at about 9:40pm, she met Boluwatife on the street, begging her for a place to sleep.
When the woman prodded the victim for her reason for looking for a place to sleep, she narrated the development to her.
The Commissioner, Lagos State Police Command, Edgal Imohimi, said: “This case goes to show that with our community policing and safety partnership project, criminals have no hiding place.
“It does not matter who they are, how highly or lowly place they may be, the truth is that Lagosians are on board with us in our efforts to checkmate the activated of criminals in the state.”
