We Will Resist MC Olu-Omo As King Of Oshodi – Olushi Onigbesa Family Vows

Members of the “Olushi Onigbesa family” in Oshodi have kicked against recent rumours making the rounds of a possible installation of the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya also known as MC Oluomo as king of Oshodi.

In a statement issued by members the family in Lagos on Wednesday, December 29th, they frowned at the possibility of the raod chieftan being made a King in the community, saying that it is a fragrant disregard to culture.

The family therefore appealed to the Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to inveane in what it described as an impending crisis waiting to explode.

“An appeal has been made to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu to intervene and stop the fragrant disregard to cultural norms by calling Mr. Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya popularly known as MC OLUOMO to order to desist on his bid to force himself, a non-native of Oshodi on the people as King, thinking he can have his field day using Union and State powers.”

“The attention of the Olushi Onigbesa Royal Family of Oshodi Awori Kingdom has been drawn to the picture of Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya A.K.A MC OLUOMO, Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State circulated on numerous Social Media platform where he was dressed in traditional kingly attire intended for an Oba in Yoruba Land.”

The family said they decided to react on the said rumour because of some trending videos on both social and conventional media of a message delivered by a first class oba where it was stated of the aspiration of the road transport workers chieftain of becoming a King in Oshodi.

In the press release, they said: “It has been said in the trending videos and news that Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya AKA MC OLUOMO is soliciting to be appointed by the Governor of Lagos state. Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the Oba of Oshodi. The trending news has heightened tension in Oshodi community as Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya AKA MC OLUOMO never hidden his desire to be Oba of Oshodi”

They also explained why they would not want him to be Installed as a King in Oshodi. Their reason is that he is not a native of Oshodi but Ejigbo.

“Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya AKA MC OLUOMO is a native of Ejigbo Town and without any affinity. whatsoever in Oshodi and as such not eligible to the throne of the Oba Of Oshodi.”

“That Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya AKA MC OLUOMO does not belong to any recognized land owing family in oshodi and he is neither related to any of the two branches of Olushi Onigbesa Royal family already recommended by the standing tribunal of inquiry into Chieftaincy matters in Lagos state.”

“His family was not recognized as a ruling house in the Chieftaincy decleration of 1982 regulating the selection of the candidate to the stool of Baale of Oshodi.”

“The tribunal of inquiry into chieftaincy matters in respect of the upgrading Baale of Oshodi to first class Obaship status was set up by Lagos state Government. It lasted between January 2003 and December 2008 and the tribunal recommended that the Olushi Onigbesa Family of Oshodi Land is the only family eligble and entitled to the stool of the Oba of Oshodi.”
