The Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has announced the immediate suspension of Dana Air’s operations following a runway excursion incident at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos earlier today.
According to reports, a Dana Air aircraft flying from Abuja to Lagos skidded off the runway during landing. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported, and all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation. However, the aviation minister has taken swift action to ground Dana Air’s operations pending a thorough review.
“The safety of air travelers is paramount,” Minister Keyamo stated. “We will work to understand the cause of this incident and ensure that all necessary safety measures are in place before Dana Air can resume operations.”
Dana Air has yet to release an official statement regarding the suspension. However, the airline previously confirmed that all passengers and crew onboard the affected flight were safe.
The suspension of Dana Air’s operations is likely to cause some disruption for passengers with upcoming flights. Travelers are advised to contact the airline directly for information regarding rebooking or cancellations.
