Bode George Urges President Tinubu to Reveal Truth About Fuel Subsidy

A prominent member of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has called on President Bola Tinubu to address the nation honestly regarding the contentious issue of fuel subsidy. George, a former deputy national chairman of the PDP, expressed concern about the lack of transparency surrounding this critical matter.

Nigerians deserve clarity on whether the Tinubu administration is still subsidizing fuel through covert channels. Speculations abound that the federal government has quietly reinstated fuel subsidies, with former governors Isa Yuguda (Bauchi) and Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna) accusing the government of paying even more for subsidies than before.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, recently disclosed that Nigeria spends a staggering $600 million monthly on fuel importation. However, conflicting narratives persist—one side claims the subsidy remains, while another insists it has been abolished.

Chief Bode George emphasized the people’s right to know the truth. As Nigerians, we collectively own the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and transparency is essential. George urged the government to provide clarity, allowing citizens to make informed decisions and support policies that align with their interests
